Temas Line Opens New Service To Papua
Anticipating the growing market demand in Papua region Temas Line recently opened new domestic service from Jakarta & Surabaya to Jayapura & Sorong. This is also in line with the government's plan to develop Indonesia?s eastern region, a company statement says. Indonesia?s geographical feature, which consists thousands of islands, is still relying on sea transportation that plains pivotal role in the development in this country. For this service, Temas deploys two container vessels, MV.Muara Mas with specification of 6,443 DWT and vessel capacity of 214 TEUs and MV.Telaga Mas with specification of 4,693 DWT and carrrying capacity of 252 TEUs.
The carrier commenced the maiden voyage from Jakarta to Jayapura on November 26, 2006 deploying MV.Muara Mas.
Port of Jayapura is located at Teluk Yos Sudarso (previously known as Humboldt Bay) in Irian Jaya.
Meanwhile Sorong is located at Western Papua Province, the western most tip of Papua Island. Both ports are under the management of Pelindo?IV which headquarters in Makassar.
